Hi Ryan,
I am one of the mysterious 50 people who enjoy looking at your clog vlog. I know that fifty something year old men should not be too interested in the lives of young men like yourself, but i find your thoughtful insights intereresting and sincere and unlike many other blogs without pretense. And having a few Dutch ex husbands, I am always interested in what goes on in the Netherlands.
here are my thoughts on things I hate today…
Things I hate…
Mainstream journalists in the so-called “enlightened†press expressing their homophobia.
A few days ago in “The Ageâ€, journalist Geoff McClure expressed his concern at the behaviour of a Melbourne footballer (Travis Johnstone) at the Brownlow awards, who was seen kissing or licking! a fellow team mate (Ben Holland, half his luck) and a club official. McClure finds this behaviour not “appropriate†and considers that it should not have been broadcast on national television, presumably because in his view, it will turn little boys gay. I have written to him asking him whether he objects to any display of affection in public between two people, or whether he is indeed homophobic. I hope that anyone else reading this who feels similarly outraged will also complain to “The Ageâ€. Here is McClure’s contact:
Of course the issue is vexed. Travis Johnstone is probably straight and thinks that it is just hilarious to mimic gay affection, as do a number of public sporting figures. Which brings me to another thing I hate… Straight men playing with gay identity for fun, shock-value or celebrity.
