I’ve recently started reading what I can only describe as the perfect magazine for me. Its like the editors are living inside my brain.
Look at the cover of the most recent edition. Its more me than me! Can’t wait till it arrives in my letter box.
It’s so strange to be reading a ye olde printed magazine again. I haven’t paid for an actual subscription to anything printed since the internet became the new black. I almost feel like I should be wearing period costume and fanning myself with a lace fan while I flick through the pages.
I’ve actually just fired of a short letter to the ed, suggesting they do a story on Agendia and the ‘new era’ of molecular diagnostics.
Hello… ready for my closeup.
But back to my current love affair with Wired.
I have been genuinely impressed with how they seem to be able to find the coolest developments in tech/science/medicine. Stuff (even) I haven’t read about the web three months prior, which is the case with most other mags.
I also love how they don’t treat their readers like idiots. There are enough nitty-gritty details given to satisfy my uber-skepticism about practically everything, but at the same time the writing style is hip and often humorous.
I love to stories and columns on modern day tech-etiquette (eg. is it ok to look at someone else’s laptop/PDA screen on a plane. answer: no), a topic I struggle with on a daily basis.
Strangely enough though, I really hate their website - its far too geek and no where near enough chic, IMO.
Other than this minor glitch though, HIGHLY recommended.
