I was recently lucky enough to be the recipient of a very special gift, an extremely rare (although haven’t checked ebay yet) store display from the H&M Madonna promotion here in the EU recently.

Actually, its more a loan; as they say you never really ‘own’ Madonna merchandise, you just look after it for the next generation of screaming Diva-lovers.

It is a responsibility I accept with Lord-Of-The-Rings-style seriousness.

As shown on left, its a full-body image of a rather melancholy-looking Mads. About 2.5m long and maybe 70cm across I would guess, printed on some kind of fabric.

So the question is now what to do with it? My first impulse was to have it framed in all its original glory, but now I am thinking that may be a little, ah-hem, over the top - possibly even gaudy. I never thought I would use those words and ‘madonna’ in the same blog posting. What has happened to me?

dsc00330.JPG So last night i put on my silk gloves and tried to see how she would look with a bit of minor surgery (which the actual ’she’ would never resort to).

On right you can see what I think is the best option. I think by removing the lower part of the image, it focuses your attention more on the facial area and away from her “girly bits”.

Will be keen to see what others think, so Barry, Jasper et al - expect to be asked. The the next step is to find a framer who I trust enough to handle this priceless piece of art.

Of course I will tell him it is for my sister, which should be totally believable.
