It doesn’t seem like a lot is going on at the moment in my life, but if I make a list I’ll probably think differently.

Here goes:

  • The Move: Official departure date from the still-unpronounceable Wouwermanstraat is September 15. Really looking forward to sampling life in a different part of Amsterdam. Moving itself, bites the big one still, but I’ve done it so many times now it’s really just a minor annoyance now. Plus moving ‘up’ makes it easier.
  • JaspervanWijngaarden.com - Jaspers semi-regular blog has had an extreme makeover. Still needs some work, but it’s definitely on the way to fabulous. Check it out! (My new goal in life is to have a photo as glamorous as this one).
  • Work: Same old really. Two co-authored publications being submitted this month, two more (first author, i think) papers in the pipeline. The downside of working for a company is the inordinate number of people who must approve external communications, but to be expected, I guess. Hoping to have them submitted by the end of the year, but that could be overly optimistic (something I try to avoid at all costs).
  • Toys: I really have to take a break from spending for a while. iMac/Phone are going well (if you couldn’t tell from the 200 posts about them this week. Photo booth is so fun (even though I could totally do it before I had a mac). Debating whether or not I need to install Windows in parallel on the Mac.
  • Travel: Possibe work trip to a molecular diagnostics conference in Atlanta next month. I really hope I can go to this meeting - it sounds really interesting (unlike the last one!). Also, possibly I’ll do a weekend trip to Barcelona, while the weather is still tolerable. If I can get off my ass and organise it.
  • Music: Songs like this one from Missy Higgins aren’t helping my current frame of mind, but it’s just so good. In a totally depressing way.
  • Web stuff. Sites I am loving at the moment include: Meebo, Plaxo, FlickR, Beautiful (link not appropriate for a G-rated blog like this…email me…) and iPhone Dev. I’m still not a nerd.
  • Study: After almost throwing in the towel (with a SYTYCD-style towel-throwing routine) I have decided to re-take the subject I did-not-pass last semester. Did I mention this already? This math subject is a prerequisite for all other subjects in the entire course, so it’s pass or drop out all together. I have managed to find someone to help tutor me this time, so things are looking up. I’m glad I decided to continue - makes me feel like I doing something useful with my time here!

Well, actually not really that much going on. But it’s good to make a list.

My blog has almost had 40k hits. Unbelievable.
